Beginning his career at age 17, Justin Young released a number of successful albums in Hawaii. With eight number-one hits on island radio and four Hawaiian Music Awards under his belt, Justin relocated to Los Angeles. Justin quickly established a following in the local music scene and connected with other singer/songwriters including up-and-comer <A HREF="http://www.colbiecaillat.com/" target=_blank">Colbie Caillat. Colbie quickly ascended to the top of the Billboard charts and soon after asked Justin to join her band.

Justin has been touring with Colbie Caillat as her acoustic guitarist and background vocalist for three years. He was also included in the recording of her latest album “Breakthrough,” which debut at number one on the Billboard Album charts.

In addition to touring with Colbie, Justin is working on a new album with producer/engineer Eric Robinson for release in 2010.

Justin plays Carter/Poulsen guitars exclusively. Currently just plays a custom sunburst <A HREF="http://www.carterpoulsenguitars.com/g-model" target=_blank">gmodel and a custom <A HREF="http://www.carterpoulsenguitars.com/t-model" target=_blank">tmodel.

On a hot summer morning on Manhattan’s west side, the sight of a debutante in a black dress, wearing what appeared to be a most uncomfortable pair of high heels, planted the seed for the title track on <A HREF="http://www.richardjulianmusic.com/" target=_blank">Richard Julian’s latest, Sunday Morning in Saturday’s Shoes. Julian recalls, “There was no way she’d gotten dressed that way that morning.”

Such attentive observation is a staple of Julian’s songwriting, on full display in his fifth full-length album (and second for Manhattan.) When asked for a reference point for his style, the songwriter mentions filmmaker Alexander Payne (Sideways, Election) before mentioning other musicians. Julian’s screenplay-worthy craftsmanship is a skill that’s earned him entrance to a mutual admiration society that includes artists like Randy Newman, <A HREF="http://www.norahjones.com/index.php" target=_blank">Norah Jones and Bonnie Raitt.

Recording with <A HREF="http://www.norahjones.com/index.php" target=_blank">Norah Jones and bouncing ideas off Bonnie Raitt is a long way from playing Vegas cocktail lounges, which was how Julian began his musical career. But after four records and logging thousands of road miles, this mild-mannered and disarmingly charming, bespectacled artist can stop loitering in the corner of the public’s eye and takes his rightful spot front and center.

Richard currently plays a custom sunburst <A HREF="http://www.carterpoulsenguitars.com/g-model" target=_blank">gmodel with a <A HREF="http://www.lrbaggs.com/" target=_blank">LR Baggs pick up.
